  • Hours of work: 08:30 – 17:00

Main Purpose of Job:

To identify prospects and develop new business leads via telephone and other forms of communication such as email and build customer’s interest in services and products offered by MIAB.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Database management of prospective and converted appointments
  • Cross selling of products from MIAB’s portfolio to clients where appropriate
  • Maintain comprehensive, clear and concise records of any actions taken and telephone conversations
  • Build customer’s interest in MIAB’s services and products
  • Adhere to MIAB’s internal policies and procedures

Required Skills:

  • Excel, Outlook and Word competent
  • Basic understanding of the insurance market (not essential)
  • Professional telephone manner
  • Commission / target driven with previous sales experience (desired)
  • Ability to work to individual and team targets
  • Team player
  • Ability to overcome objections in a compliant manner
  • Ability to work independently, using personal judgement while operating within specific guidelines
  • Excellent time management and ability to prioritise workload
  • Outstanding and effective communication skills
  • Ongoing in house training provided
  • Working towards Cert CII or willing to undertake with view to qualify within 18 months

Main Purpose of the Job:

To work as part of the Locum Insurance Account Management team in delivering against target the issuance, administration and closing of renewal terms for MIAB’s existing customers. To work inter-departmentally with associated teams and insurers to ensure a speedy, simple and effective customer journey, and to ensure the maintenance of a profitable portfolio of business.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Managing new, existing and broker/Independent Financial Adviser (IFA) clients
  • Dealing with policy enquiries, and preparing, reviewing and issuing policy renewal and mid-term adjustment documentation
  • Pre-renewal contact to understand client demands and needs for the coming year, and translating this to a meaningful renewal invitation (always in conjunction with Compliance procedures)
  • Liaising with the Claims team and reviewing any on-going or recently closed claims at time of amendments to renewal quotes
  • Conduct follow-up calls to ensure clients have received the quote, to chase a decision or make any changes
  • Closing business, overcoming objections and working to Company retention targets whilst operating within the guidelines. Always working in conjunction with Compliance and Treating Customers Fairly (TCF), as well as treating the insurers fairly
  • Processing the confirmed renewals, including administration and saving to bordereaux correctly (admin support will be available whenever possible)
  • Performing and processing mid-term adjustments, including the administration, bordereaux and submission of documents
  • Liaising with underwriters and insurers to negotiate, propose and recommend the most appropriate terms for clients for renewals and mid-term adjustments
  • Producing comparisons of alternative quotes received by clients
  • Cross-selling products from MIAB’s portfolio to existing clients (where appropriate)
  • Achieving a good understanding of the policy wording and schedule to explain these confidently and correctly to clients when required
  • Operating compliantly under delegated authority from insurers,
  • Understanding of delegated authority guides, loss ratios and assessing risk insurability
  • Training and assisting new colleagues
  • Be target driven to achieve high customer retention of 90%+

Required Skills: Essential

  • Minimum of grade C GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • Excel, Outlook and Word competent
  • A good understanding of the insurance market
  • Professional telephone manner
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Target centric with the ability to balance business targets, cautious underwriting and client needs
  • Team player with the ability to work independently when needed
  • Able to overcome objections, and sell features and advantages of products within a competitive marketplace
  • Previous Account Management experience
  • Can demonstrate honesty, integrity and the ability to place the customer at the heart of everything you do
  • Ability to work in a structured, compliant and prescribed way in accordance with FCA guidelines
  • Excellent time and task management

Required Skills: Desirable

  • A good understanding of the commercial insurance industry
  • Cert CII qualified or higher
  • Understanding of the medical insurance sector and associated products, specifically Locum Insurance

Minimum Standards:

  • Know your product, customer, competitor and affinity partners
  • Pass annual insurer tests
  • Complete and keep up-to-date with training via Broker Assess
  • Achieve targeted 80% margin retention through renewal of existing business, revised quarterly
  • 20 cross-sell opportunities per person, per month for other products
  • Manage mid-term adjustments (Administration audit)
  • <10% error rate by volume
  • Pass monthly call audits
  • Cases closed out no later than five days after the renewal date
  • All team members to achieve a minimum of level two certification within the induction period, reviewed annually
  • All staff pass IF1, within two years
  • All staff to be Cert CII qualified within four years
  • All renewals to be offered as per minimum service standard, allowing contract certainty
  • All team members are required to pass relevant annually tests relating to their product, training and numeracy/literacy
